The 1,200 Horsepower French lesson.
Forget about buying Rosetta Stone or signing up for French classes at your local college, the new Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse will teach you all the French that you’ll ever need. The automaker’s newest, and most powerful roadster of all time is set to be officially unveiled at the 82nd International Geneva Motor Show in March.
There’s only one French word that you need to know for the new roadster, and that’s Vitesse. In French, it translates to “speed,” and this car has quite a bit of it packed behind the driver’s seat. The new Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse is the most powerful roadster ever made, and uses a modified W-16 engine to produce 1,200 horsepower and 1,106 lb-ft. (1,500 Nm) of torque. That’s up from the 1,001 hp/922 lb-ft. of the standard Veyron. Bugatti was able to increase the power thanks to four bigger turbochargers and intercoolers.
Although the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse does not have a full roof, it has been visually upgraded after its Super Sport Coupe sibling to reflect the additional power. Bugatti also took steps to enhance the chassis in order for the roadster to properly handle the additional power, ensuring that no amount of driving dynamics were lost.
“The rapid success of the Super Sport convinced us to increase the performance of the Bugatti roadster. Once again our engineers worked hard to demonstrate that Bugatti is able to constantly redefine the boundaries of what is technically feasible,” reveals Bugatti President Wolfgang Dürheimer. “We gave our all to transfer the achievements of the Super Sport over to the Grand Sport, thereby turning open-top driving itself into an extraordinary experience at high speed.”
The official pricing and production details of the new Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse have not been announced, but you can expect it to be très cher.
