Paying homage to a legend.
After 68 years, the final Land Rover Defender rolled off the factory line on Friday. It is the end of an era for such an iconic off-road machine. To pay homage to production coming to an end, the Chelsea Truck Company has unveiled the Land Rover Defender ‘The End Edition’ 2.2 TDCI XS110 Station Wagon.
While nothing can properly pay tribute to such an icon of British motoring, the team at the Chelsea Truck Company have created an SUV that has all the off-road abilities we’ve come to love plus a wealth of luxury amenities and that special custom-tailored touch.
The Santorini Black Land Rover Defender Station Wagon has a purposeful and muscular appearance thanks to extended front and rear fenders with integrated vents and exposed bolt apertures. A new front bumper incorporates new lighting and a sump guard while an X-Lander front grille, mesh hood vents, and ‘KAHN’ badging complete the facelift. At the rear, Land Rover Defender ‘The End Edition’ proudly wears a Chelsea Truck Company spare wheel cover.
Sitting beneath those beefy fenders is a set of 9.0 x 20 Mondial wheels in Satin Black with 275/55/20 tires. But that’s only part of the story; painted brake calipers, a suspension lift, upgraded gas shocks and steering dampers, and hard-wearing mud flaps improve the off-road performance of the Land Rover Defender ‘The End Edition’.
But the Chelsea Truck Company wasn’t done with the hardware. The British team gave the 2.2-liter turbodiesel engine a new Kahn Power Upgrade unit that plugs directly into the engine’s connection points to increase output, power delivery, and even fuel economy. The system can also be easily removed at any time. As an added bonus, the Land Rover Defender ‘The End Edition’ also boasts a twin cross-hair exhaust system poking through the rear mud flaps.
Inside the Land Rover Defender Station Wagon is where all the luxury sits. Dark-tinted privacy glass hides the new GTB front seats and quilted leather-clad middle and rear folding seats. The same quilted and perforated leather design is also worn by the center glove box, passenger dashboard, handles, door panels, instrument binnacle, sun visors, and even headliner.
The dashboard and cockpit is dressed to the nines in the Land Rover Defender ‘The End Edition’. A Churchill time clock, speedometer, and tachometer all have red fascias that make a strong statement. A new set of door entry sill plates match the vented and machined aluminum pedals while a Kahn billet steering wheel proudly sits above. Drivers also benefit from an Alpine satellite navigation system, reverse camera, and rear cabin access LED lights.
The new Chelsea Truck Company Land Rover Defender ‘The End Edition’ 2.2 TDCI XS 110 Station Wagon is currently in production and will be priced at £55,999.
