Pavement to Finish Line Missile Defense System engaged.
The Cadillac CTS-V is already a supercharged American weapon with ample strength and power. But for the 2012 Cadillac Challenge, one owner brought his CTS-V to D3 Cadillac for some special operations training before it competed for the checkered flag.
The CTS-V was aptly named the Patriot Missile after the high-tech missile defense system employed by the United States military. The system is incredibly accurate and powerful, and is capable of taking down airborne targets with ease. Precision, accuracy, and power is what the D3 Cadillac Patriot Missile is all about, which make it one of the most potent weapons on the racetrack.
The D3 Cadillac CTS-V is based on a standard 2010 Cadillac CTS-V sedan owned by Allen C. of CTSVRacing.com, who has had plenty of experience with fast Cadillacs. “It was time to go to the next level with the car”, said Allen, “I was so impressed with the cars performance that the only way to feed my appetite for more power was to go with a full D3 Tuner Power Kit”.
The CTS-V already utilized a number of bolt-on parts from D3 Cadillac, but Allen needed more explosive ordinances in order to make it a true winner on the racetrack for the Cadillac Challenge, so the team went with the D3 Stage 4 Tuner Power Kit.
With the D3 Cadillac Patriot Missile, the first step was to upgrade the cooling system to ensure the car could perform at the highest level for an entire race. A new aluminum radiator with premium materials and an improved core that can better transfer heat was installed along with a larger intercooler and intercooler pump. This paved the way for more power upgrades to be installed without affecting reliability. The supercharger was upgraded with a ported housing and inlet along with a larger crankshaft pulley to produce more power efficiently. New spark plugs, wires, exhaust headers, and cross-pipe were installed and fine tuned with a reprogrammed ECU to produce 30 percent more power for a total of 700 horsepower and 700 lb-ft. of torque.
The next step to making the D3 Cadillac Patriot Missile more precise on the racetrack was to upgrade the chassis. The stock suspension was upgraded with KW Variant 3 coilovers built to D3 Cadillac specifications, adjustable endlinks, chassis bracing, and D3 Cadillac sway bars. New high-performance brake pads and rotors were fitted to reduce fade and improve braking power for the racetrack, and all of the fluids were flushed and replaced with high-performance liquids. The finishing touch were new Toyo Proxes R888 tires in a 295/30/19 front and rear setup for uncompromising grip.
The D3 Cadillac Patriot Missile CTS-V will compete in the 2012 Cadillac Challenge on the East Coast of the United States and showcase the quality and performance of D3 Cadillac products. The Patriot Missile wears a matte silver center section that runs from the front bumper to the trunk and blue painted brake calipers to make it stand out from the crowd.
