There are always those custom cars that make you scratch your head in wonder and amusement, and lead you to stop and think why someone would want to do that to their vehicle. The HplusB-Design Chrysler 300 CRD Touring is one of those cars. It’s not that it is a low-quality build, it just begs the question “why?”
This isn’t even the second-generation Chrysler 300, it’s a first-gen Euro wagon. It might entice some of the die-hard enthusiasts as it checks off the turbodiesel and wagon boxes, but it’s lack of a manual and somewhat low-quality American roots kind of kill any kind of hopes for fun and excitement. But HplusB-Design gave it the old college try and you can say that they succeeded in making it a head-turner.
The team at HplusB-Design gave the turbodiesel luxury wagon a full Electric Lime wrap with SRT hood in black foil carbon, black roof, and black foil carbon trim pieces. Window tint and black-foiled trim pieces add a more MOPAR-like American color scheme for the European car.
The Chrysler 300 CRD Touring may be outdated, but the Mercedes-Benz-sourced 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 engine was given a decent boost in power to keep it somewhat current in the output department. The Germans added on a larger intercooler, software tune, and torque-limiting gear release. A new FG-Motorsport axle back exhaust also audibly shows its increase in power. In total, 283 horsepower and 478 lb-ft. of torque is produced by the tuned oil-burner, with other upgrades currently in the works.
The tangy green American also has a more eye-catching chassis to match its bold new look and power. HplusB-Design installed a new set of KW Variant 1 coilovers to add some dynamism and lower the overall ride height. New Tomason TN1 wheels with a gloss black finish measure 10.0 x 22 at the front and rear with 265/30 R22 tires to grab the asphalt. To make the new fitment work, the front axle was given 40 mm spacers while the rear gains a pair of 50 mm spacers.
The HplusB-Design Chrysler 300 CRD Touring is one of those head-scratching, crazy builds that makes us wonder. However, there’s always someone who will find it spectacular and scoop it up. More power to them!
