Since I have been afforded the pleasure of writing for MotoringExposure, I have come to understand what the “automotive lifestyle” is really all about. It is not about cars every day and all the time. It is about enjoying mobility and having a discerning taste for the best and most cutting-edge of conveyances. That entails: meetings, entertainment, rallies, shows, events and even foibles.
In the next few weeks, I will throw in some aspects of this lifestyle that may or may not include automobiles. After all, the person with the newest Kahn Range Rover or Aston One-77 has to have some other toys in their stash. What kind of fun does the other half really have?
Let’s begin with a company called Marchi Mobile. They have the recreational vehicle that you’ve been dreaming about. The Marchi Mobile EleMMent Palazzo is a rolling tribute to excess and wealth. It is also an attempt to push the limits of design for a Class-A Motorhome. Sometimes, it is believed that because a vehicle serves a specific purpose, it has to look a certain way. Marchi Mobile says, not so!
Let’s get past the Tie- Fighter front end looks; looks eerily similar to Luigi Colani’s truck design (Hmmm…). It’s ugly in design, but when you pay over $3 million for a motorhome, you are not really trying to make a statement about beauty. You married a 22 year-old supermodel for that.
The level of shock and awe delivered by the exterior is only rivaled by the beauty and craftsmanship on the inside. A fluid combination of modern design, a great use of space, ultra luxurious furniture and appliances on par with the most expensive mansions is all combined here. The interior features Master bedrooms, lounge areas, and modern bathrooms that you might expect in a five star suite. The 39-foot long vehicle offers 215 square feet to 430
square feet of open space. The Palazzo can be massively expanded by the oversized pop-out slider and also features a pop-up rooftop bar – perfect for those who want the joys of a Monaco yacht party on dry land. A jet-like catwalk provides access to the interior and the red carpet treatment at the same time.
A large 550 HP diesel engine moves this fortress of excess and it spits out emissions through a pair of exhaust outlets mounted under a rear diffuser. It will not give you Lamborghini acceleration numbers, but it sure looks good. If you have to ask about fuel economy numbers, you are not a buyer, you are the accountant that works for them. The Marchi Mobile EleMMent Palazzo has a starting base price of $1.9 million. Options like Gold Exterior Accents and faucets, radar and owner designed lighting only push the price skyward.
Your average Class-A motorhome is an expensive machine fitted with granite counter tops, stainless appliances, flat-screen TVs, or quadruple pop outs. The Marchi Mobile EleMMent Palazzo is not Class-A, it is in a class by itself.
