Subtle styling for a stunning supercar.
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is a high-profile supercar that proudly wears the three-pointed star. While other tuning companies have gone the more aggressive route when developing aftermarket products for the SLS, Väth has made a more understated SLS tuning program that highlights the significant characteristics of the car.
Starting things off is a VÄTH carbon fiber composite aerodynamic body kit that helps improve downforce and stability while providing a unique look. The kit is comprised of a front spoiler lip, side skirts that improve airflow to the rear brakes, and a rear spoiler that can be adjusted at higher speeds.
A major part of the exterior aesthetics is new lightweight three-piece VÄTH forged wheels. Although they give the SLS AMG a unique appearance with titanium-painted centers, they also improve performance by decreasing weight at each of the wheel hubs. Up front, the fitment measures 9.5 J x 20, while the rear staggers with wide pair of 11.5J x 20s. To further improve driving dynamics, Väth has fitted high-performance 265/30 ZR20 front and 315/25 ZR20 rear tires.
Behind the wheels hides a new brake and suspension setup that makes the SLS AMG more potent on the track. Although it’s called the VÄTH “Comfort” suspension, the system lowers the car by 25 mm thus reducing the center of gravity to improve handling. Stopping the German supercar is the Väth SLS high-performance brake system with slotted rotors, stainless steel brake lines, and high-performance pads.
Arguably the most exciting part of the supercar is the Väth SLS tuning program for the 6.2-liter V-8 engine. VÄTH has installed their new high-performance exhaust system on the SLS that utilizes a manually-adjustable pneumatic valve system. So, if you’d like to scare a few pedestrians at a stoplight, you can open up the valves and give it a nice rev. In addition to the exhaust, engineers also remapped the ECU with the VÄTH V63S kit, increasing output to 615 horsepower and 510 lb-ft. of torque at 5,800 RPM. This propels the SLS to 62 mph in 3.6 seconds and to a top speed of 205 mph (330 km/h).
Väth has also refined the SLS interior with a number of products. Facing the driver is a leather sport steering wheel that can also be fitted with wood or carbon fiber trim, and a 400 km/h speedometer. Black floor mats with Väth logos and special leather door trim are also available to create a more luxurious atmosphere.
The Väth Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG tuning program is currently available from the German tuner. The entire package is currently priced at € 32,670 (+/- 47,600 USD).
