In the Porsche model lineup, the ‘GTS’ variants hold a special place. These models are injected with more sport and are geared for driving enjoyment thanks to some good ‘ol motorsports-inspired technology. The ‘GTS’ badge has been worn by almost the entire Porsche lineup, except the Macan – until now.
Slotting right in between the Macan S and Macan Turbo models, the new Porsche Macan GTS is packed with all sorts of new upgrades that raises the level of driving performance and engagement.
Under the hood of the Porsche Macan GTS is a variant of the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine found in the Macan S, but with more horsepower. A total of 360 horsepower and 369 lb-ft. of torque is sent through the PDK gearbox and all-wheel drive system with Porsche Traction Management (PTM) to ensure maximum grip. With the sports exhaust system letting out the thunder, the Porsche Macan GTS can reach 62 mph from rest in just 5.0 seconds (4.8 seconds with optional Sport Chrono package). Top speed is also back at 159 mph.
That’s just the beginning of the new performance story. The Porsche Macan GTS features a sportier tune of the PASM suspension that sits 15 mm lower. New five-spoke, 20-inch RS Spyder Design wheels wearing satin black put the power down and match the new black visual updates across the SUV.
Coming standard on the Porsche Macan GTS is the Sport Design package. The package includes various aerodynamic parts and body work painted in high-gloss black above the beltline with matte black decorating the lower areas. Matte black side blades with the ‘GTS’ logo also distinguish the SUV from the rest of the pack. Bright Bi-Xenon headlights in black come standard while the LED Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus can be had as an option.
Inside, the Porsche Macan GTS has a few new sporty amenities paired with some high-tech gadgetry. Supportive GTS seats come standard and feature alcantara paneling while alcantara trim decorates most of the cabin. Three-zone climate control and Lane Departure Warning also come standard. For the first time ever, the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) is featured in the Macan and can be paired up with the optional Connect Plus module.
The new Porsche Macan GTS will be available at the end of October with prices starting at $67,200 in the United States.
