Ferrari’s move towards smaller, turbocharged engines for the sake of efficiency have aftermarket tuning companies happy. Very, very happy. Those snails mounted next to the engine hold a great deal of tuning potential and brands like Novitec Rosso are taking full advantage. Just take their newest carbon-fiber-clad 488 GTB with 722 horsepower and a 212.5 mph top speed as an example.
For the twin-turbocharged 3.9-liter V-8 engine in the Ferrari 488 GTB, Novitec Rosso developed two tuning modules that optimize the fuel injection, ignition, and electronic boost pressure. The system also gives drivers the ability to activate or deactivate the tune at the touch of a button on the steering wheel. After being paired with one of the available exhaust systems optionally in lightweight INCONEL or 100-cell catalytic converters, the engine produces 772 horsepower at 7,950 RPM and 658 lb-ft. at 3,250 RPM. This comes with a better throttle response for improved acceleration in any gear. From rest, the Novitec Rosso Ferrari 488 GTB can accelerate from 0-62 mph in 2.8 seconds and hit a top speed of 212.50 mph.
To transfer all that power to the asphalt, owners can opt for two choices of forged one- or three-piece wheels from Novitec Rosso. A set of NF4 forged wheels measuring 9.0 x 21 up front and 12.0 x 21 at the rear are shod in 255/40 ZR21 and 325/25 ZR21 at the rear are available. Customers can also opt for the ten-spoke, three-piece staggered NF7 forged alloys in a 9.0J x 21 and 12.0J x 22 at the front and rear with high-performance 255/30 ZR21 and 335/25 ZR22 tires.
In addition to the lightweight shoes, the Novitec Rosso Ferrari 488 GTB can also be outfitted with a new hydraulic suspension system that retains the factory active damper control system. The new hydraulic setup can reduce ride height by 35 mm for a better center of gravity. Drivers can also raise the front axle by 40 mm at the touch of a button to avoid obstacles, parking ramps, or speed bumps without damaging the underbody.
Visually, Novitec Rosso gave the Ferrari 488 GTB functional carbon fiber looks to match its incredible performance. A full carbon fiber suit of downforce-inducing and airflow-optimizing body work was made in carbon fiber with an optional naked finish for those that want to strut their stuff.
Up front, the Novitec Rosso Ferrari 488 GTB features a new spoiler lip and side flaps to keep the nose planted at high speeds, while a central air intake surround helps optimize cooling. The lower look continues with the new carbon fiber side skirts with their jagged lines. Carbon fiber side mirror surrounds and side air intake deflectors continue the more athletic look. To finish off the kit, the rear boasts a large carbon fiber wing and diffuser combo that generates a great deal of downforce for better handling. The lights were also given a dark tint with the rear gaining a new carbon fiber surround for a more menacing aesthetic.
Novitec Rosso can also give the interior of the Ferrari 488 GTB the same treatment, albeit with a more custom-tailored touch. Everything from carbon fiber to wood, alcantara, and fine leathers with an array of designs and patterns can be installed in almost any color to create a truly bespoke atmosphere.
