Taking AMG power to the next level.
One of the biggest, baddest Benzes you can buy is the AMG-powered CL 216. Based on the S-Class it combines top-notch luxury and quality with grand touring AMG performance. At VÄTH Automobiltechnik, this package just wasn’t enough, prompting engineers to develop an engine, exterior, and interior tuning program to get the most out of the big Mercedes-Benz coupe.
Under the hood of the CL 63 AMG lies the new twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V-8 from Mercedes-Benz packed with potential. Engineers at VÄTH were able to crack the engine control unit and create a new CL tuning program consisting of the V63S kit, a stainless steel exhaust, and sports catalytic converter. The upgrades increase output to 630 horsepower and 686 lb-ft. (930 Nm) of torque. This increase in power drops the 0-62 mph acceleration time down to just 4.3 seconds and increases the top speed to 186 mph (300 km/h).
To go along with the added horsepower, VÄTH chose to upgrade the suspension and brake systems for better stability and safety. All of the brake lines have been upgraded with curved steel lines to better handle the added strain of performance driving. The factory ABC chassis and suspension systems were both lowered to improve the center of gravity and overall handling. Completing the chassis upgrades are a set of new 9 x 20 front and 10.5 x 20 rear three-piece wheels with 255/35 ZR 20 front and 275/35 ZR 20 rear performance tires for added grip and style.
VÄTH also focused on adding a few minor exterior and interior upgrades to set the CL 63 AMG apart from the stock models. A new carbon fiber radiator grille cover, side mirror caps, and rear diffuser were installed as well as a new trunk spoiler that can also be made in carbon fiber. Inside is a new sports steering wheel, leather interior, and wood or carbon fiber trim along with a 350 km/h speedometer.
The new CL tuning package for the W216 AMG is currently available from VÄTH as a complete package or individual accessories. Pricing has not been released.
