Bi-turbo Benz performance.
The new C218 Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG was designed to expand on the success of the previous generation while also providing more power and greater efficiency. To reach higher power and efficiency standards, Mercedes-Benz introduced a new 5.5-liter, twin-turbocharged V-8 engine in the CLS63 AMG to replace the gas-guzzling 6.2-liter.
The new bi-turbo engine has been welcomed with open arms by aftermarket tuning companies such as Väth. The new engine is packed with even more potential than the previous naturally-aspirated engine, and has led the German tuner to develop a completely new CLS63 AMG performance package.
VÄTH has designed the V63RS kit specifically for the 5.5-liter V-8 engine. The CLS63 AMG tuning kit is comprised of an ECU remap, optimized charge air cooler system, and sport exhaust system with stainless steel catalytic converters, and middle and rear mufflers. The upgrades boost power all the way up to 660 horsepower and 708 lb-ft. of torque, sending the four-door coupe to 62 mph in 3.9 seconds and to a top speed of 201.95 mph.
In order to handle the 200+ mph top speed, Väth had to install new suspension, brakes, and wheels for safety. The front axle is given lowering springs while the rear uses an electronic lowering module to reduce the ride height by 20 to 40 mm. The entire brake system can be upgraded with new flexible steel lines and Castrol SRF racing brake fluid for reliable stopping power. New three-piece forged wheels were also installed with tires capable of reaching 200+ mph. The front axle wears 9 x 20 inch wheels with 265/30 ZR 20 performance tires, and the rear is fitted with wider 10.5 x 20 wheels and 205/25 ZR 20 tires for better grip.
The exterior of the CLS63 AMG can also be fitted with a few subtle aerodynamic upgrades. A carbon fiber spoiler can be installed on the front bumper to reduce lift at high speeds, and the rear can be given a trunk spoiler and diffuser with under floor extension.
The AMG-themed interior can also be upgraded for a sportier atmosphere. A sports steering wheel is available in either leather or leather design with carbon fiber or wood trim for better control. Other accessories include a 360 km/h speedometer and carbon fiber trim.
The entire Väth Mercedes CLS63 AMG is available as an entire kit or as individual accessories. The engine tuning kit is priced at 12,800 (+/- 17,800 USD), the suspension at € 980 (+/- 1,300 USD), the brake system at € 590 (+/- 800 USD), and the wheel and tire package at 6,337.88 (+/- 8,800 USD).
