Voltage Design Turns Up the Juice on the Mercedes-Benz S 63 AMG Coupe

The new S 63 AMG lays down the hammer.

Voltage Design may be a relatively new company in the aftermarket tuning game, but they know how to individually tailor high-end cars for their respective owners. The latest to receive the full makeover from the Bavarian company is the new Mercedes-Benz S 63 AMG Coupe and its biturbo V-8.

Everything from the aerodynamics to the engine was upgraded for the sake of power and speed. The sleek, elegant high-performance coupe becomes a high-voltage powerhouse that is more than capable of taking it to supercars on the road.

The factory twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V-8 engine already came with a healthy 585 horsepower and 664 lb-ft. of torque. Voltage Design had bigger plans in store for the V-8 and installed new downpipes, exhaust system with remote-controlled valves, an upgraded manifold, racing air filters, intercooler, and new turbochargers to create more power. That was all tied together with a VD STORM 800 software tune and the removal of the top speed limiter for a whopping 800 horsepower and 848 lb-ft. of torque output. If that’s not enough, the Mercedes-Benz S 63 AMG Coupe can be further upgraded by Voltage Design with a VD STORM 850 software tune and bigger turbochargers for a total of 850 horsepower and 848 lb-ft. of torque.

Helping to control all of that power is a new set of brakes, a lowered suspension, and turbine-style wheels. The factory brakes were swapped out for a new set of lightweight, 66-lb. carbon-ceramic brakes with four-piston calipers that clench down on 420 mm front, 370 mm rear discs. The new brakes are combined with new coilovers that reduce the ride height from 10- to 35 mm for a better center of gravity. Hiding these upgrades from view are new Silver Metallic Vossen CVT wheels in a commanding 9.0 x 22 front and 10.5 x 22 rear setup.

But Voltage Design wasn’t done there with the exterior of the Mercedes-Benz S 63 AMG Coupe. The Bavarian tuner created a carbon fiber aerodynamic kit that adds a more aggressive touch to the super coupe. The front grille features a carbon fiber Voltage Design logo while a spoiler lip, front apron wings, and air inlets on the hood lend a more dynamic front fascia. Mirror caps and skirts decorate each side of the S 63 AMG Coupe and a new carbon fiber spoiler and diffuser combo help generate downforce at the rear. For those that want that truly custom look, the engine and grille can be outfitted in full carbon fiber.

All of the upgrades featured on the Mercedes-Benz S 63 AMG Coupe are available from Voltage Design as a complete package or individual upgrades.
