From concept to reality.
The Isdera Imperator 108i is a car that you probably haven’t ever heard of before. With only 30 examples ever produced, it was a very rare super car born from a Mercedes-Benz concept.
Originally, the Isdera Imperator 108i started out as the Mercedes CW311 concept car, featuring gullwing doors, a unique rear periscope, and futuristic ‘80s design. The mid-engined concept was supposed to stay just a concept, but Isdera’s founder, former Mercedes-Benzes design engineer, Eberhard Schultz, convinced Mercedes-Benz to provide financial support, engines, and other parts to create the car under the Isdera name.
Thus, the Isdera Imperator 108i was born and the Mercedes-Benz CW113 concept lived on in very limited numbers from 1984 to 1993.
Seen here on the track, this model features Mercedes-Benz badging and a 32-valve, 420-horsepower, 6.0-liter V-8 built by AMG.
Despite being an aging super car whose performance wasn’t world-beating when it was being produced, it can still go sideways and hang with the best of them. Oh, and it has a mean AMG V-8 growl that is oh-so-intoxicating.
