Electric vs. Gasoline.
The Tesla Model S P85D has been grabbing headlines with its insane mode since it was released. The white-knuckled acceleration right off the line from the fully-electric car is enough to push your eyes back into your head. It’s gone up against high-powered monsters like the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and put up a tremendous fight.
Right off the line, the 691-horsepower Tesla Model S P85D is very impressive. Instant power to all four wheels is hard to compete against for any car, let alone the rear-wheel drive McLaren 650S.
However, the 641-horsepower, twin-turbo V-8 of the McLaren 650S and its advanced launch system is up for the competition.
During the drag races, the McLaren was clearly beaten off the line by the Tesla, but it quickly caught up to out-accelerate the electric car.
That may change with the new software update coming out for the Model S P85D with Ludicrous mode with 70 additional horsepower.
