Injuries don’t hold Jon Olsson back.
Serious injuries are hard to recover and bounce back from for any athlete. Jon Olsson suffered a serious leg injury late last year and has been rehabbing ever since he underwent surgery. Unfortunately, it has kept the alpine skier from skiing down the slopes, but it hasn’t kept him off of them.
Olsson is a big car enthusiast and has quite the garage to show for it. One of his prized four-wheeled possessions is a Rebellion R2K, which is based on the Ultima GTR. His R2K weighs in at just 2,204 lbs. and sports 600 horsepower, making it quite the high-performance machine. So what did he do with it? He took it to the slopes for some fun, of course!
“I have always had a passion for taking supercars to the ski slopes. Now that I am injured, I can’t ski, so we brought the 600hp, 1000kg Rebellion with 315mm wide winter tires to see what would happen if you actually drove a true supercar up a slope!” said Olsson. “This crazy idea turned out to be one of the most exciting mornings that I have ever had. Pushing full gas while sliding sideways on the top of an empty mountain while the sun is just dipping over the horizon is just hard to beat! I am already thinking about how we can take this too the next level!”
In Storlien, Sweden, Olsson took his R2K to the slopes along with a helicopter for some high-altitude training for the upcoming Gumball 3000 Miami to Ibiza in June. Oh, and he had some fun too.
