There have been a lot of hypercars over the past decade, but arguably one of the most impressive has been the Bugatti Veyron. The French supercar set speed records numerous times and impressed the world with its powerplant and stunning attention to detail. Now, a new crop of supercars are hitting the streets and using all sorts of advanced technology to go faster than ever before.
So how does a legendary Bugatti Veyron stack up against a newcomer like the McLaren P1? Well, a couple of owners of these vehicles had themselves a little drag race to find out.
In one lane is the Bugatti Veyron with its quad-turbocharged 8.0-liter W-16 engine with 987 bhp and 922 lb-ft. of torque output, allowing it to reach 62 mph in 2.46 seconds and a top speed of about 253 mph.
The other lane features the McLaren P1 and its hybrid 3.8-liter, twin-turbocharged V-8 engine paired up with an electric motor for a total combined output of 890 bhp and 722 lb-ft. of torque. Going from 0-62 mph takes just 2.8 seconds and top speed is electronically-limited to 217 mph.
