Sub-three second performance.
As we all anxiously sit here awaiting the unveiling of the new Porsche 991 Turbo, TechArt has introduced an engine power kit for the 997.2 911 Turbo model to keep us occupied. The new kit, named the TA097/T3, unleashes the full potential of the 3.8-liter flat-six engine and gives the Bugatti Veyron a run for its money.
The TA097/T3 power pack from TechArt boosts power by 200 horsepower and 170 lb-ft. of torque over the stock output. The kit consists of a sport air filter, TechArt intake and exhaust manifolds, VTG turbochargers, high-performance intercoolers, and a reprogrammed engine management system to ensure that all components work in harmony. For the finishing touch, TechArt added a carbon fiber engine styling package just in case the quick acceleration doesn’t impress onlookers.
After the installation of the TA097/T3 power kit, the 911 Turbo can produce 700 horsepower and 649 lb-ft. of torque. This enables the all-wheel drive super car to reach 62 mph in just 2.8 seconds and 124 mph in only 9.0 seconds. Top speed is pushed all the way back to an astonishing 218.72 mph (352 km/h) with special tires. Without the optional Sport Plus package included in the stock model, the numbers are still impressive: 3.0 seconds to 62 mph and 9.3 to 124 mph.
The TechArt Porsche 997 Turbo TA 097/T3 power kit is currently available from the German tuner. Prices for the entire kit have not been released, but expect it to reflect the sub-3 second 0-62 mph time.
