Porsche hasn’t participated in Le Mans Prototype (LMP) racing since their RS Spyder raced in the LMP2 class in 2010. Now, they’re back with the all-new 919 Hybrid sporting all sorts of advanced technology, a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, and battery-based hybrid system.
The last LMP1 racer for the brand was the LMP1-98 in 1998, and after 16 years they’re coming back to FIA World Endurance Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Porsche has been working on developing the new 919 Hybrid for a very long time and have been testing the car with its driver lineup, highlighted by Mark Webber, to make sure they have the best car they possibly can when the racing season starts.
Luckily, Porsche has given us an inside look into the testing of the new 919 Hybrid and it has us very excited for the start of the 2014 WEC season.
