Earlier this year, Hennessey Performance hit 195 mph with their HPE700 Supercharged Ford Mustang packing 717 horsepower. That’s pretty impressive, but owner, John Hennessey, wanted even more. So, they went back to the Continental Tire Proving Grounds in Uvalde, Texas along with special guest, Jay Leno, to break 200 mph with their HPE750 Supercharged 2015 Ford Mustang.
“If at first you don’t succeed, just add more horsepower and rpm and try again,” said Hennessey. “It’s pretty cool to be able to offer an American muscle car that delivers supercar performance for under $70,000.”
Professional Driver, Ben Smith, was given the task of piloting the HPE750 Supercharged Mustang to its limits. The HPE750 package pushes the 2015 Ford Mustang to 774 bhp at 7,000 RPM and 648 lb-ft. of torque at 4,400 RPM thanks to the 2.9-liter supercharger sitting atop the built and tuned 5.0-liter V-8 engine.
At the 8.5-mile high-speed oval on the Continental Tire Proving Grounds, the Hennessey Performance HPE750 Supercharged Mustang was able to reach an astonishing 207.9 mph confirmed by the acelogic’s VBox 3i GPS data logging system.
Celebrity car nut and host of Jay Leno’s Garage set to air on CNBC later this year, Jay Leno, was on hand to witness the achievement in his iconic denim attire. The episode will feature the Hennessey Performance HPE750 Ford Mustang and its 207.9 mph run.
The new Hennessey Performance HPE750 Ford Mustang is capable of hitting 60 mph from rest in only 3.4 seconds and speeding through the quarter-mile in 10.9 seconds at 133 mph. Only 500 units will be produced as a 2015 model-year vehicle.
