This is Le Mans in 3:17.
The 24 Hours of Le Mans is one of the greatest races known to mankind. It’s the ultimate test of man and machine and has created heroes and broken hearts. It always rains but it’s always glorious. The 2015 race was no different and was all that we could hope for as fans.
While Audi has dominated the 24 Hours of Le Mans as of late, Porsche’s entry in 2014 showed their commitment to taking the overall win – a victory they would achieve in 2015 further cementing themselves as the winningest automaker in the history of the race.
Taking home the overall victory was the No. 19 Porsche 919 Hybrid driven by Earl Bamber, Nick Tandy, and Nico Hülkenberg with a total of 395 laps. Right behind them was the No. 17 919 Hybrid driven by Timo Bernhard, Brendon Hartley, and Mark Webber with 394 total laps.
During qualifying, Bernhard set the fourth-fastest lap recorded at Le Mans with an incredible 3:17.767. Thankfully, the on-board video captured the intense, lightning-fast lap.
Porsche also celebrated with a video tribute to the 2015 team efforts while looking forward to next year.
