The Ferrari 488 GTB is just starting to hit the streets and XXX Performance already has their upgrade program on display at the 2015 Essen Motor Show. The featured project car has 850 horsepower, a proper stance, and some carbon fiber goodies that makes driving the super car even more exciting.
Visually, the wedge-shaped, smooth and curvy design of the Ferrari 488 GTB gets a bit sharper thanks to some carbon fiber enhancements from XXX Performance. Optimizing airflow is a new front spoiler and rear diffuser while newly-shaped mirrors and air vents by the rear lights add a more stylistic touch. The taillights, side indicators, and rear fog lamp were all swapped out for dark-tinted units for a more menacing appearance.
The new XXX Performance Ferrari 488 GTB show car for Essen also sports a new wheel fitment and suspension setup designed with style and performance in mind. New Vossen VPS-315T wheels replace the factory units and measure 9.0 x 21 up front and a staggered 12.5 x 21 at the rear, wearing 245/30 ZR21 and 325/35 ZR21 tires. The entire suspension sits up to 35 mm lower thanks to the specially-designed springs that work with the factory active damping system. As an option a fully-adjustable coilover suspension is also available. Customers that want that extra bit of protection can choose to install a hydraulic lift system that raises the entire ride height to overcome obstacles.
The new 3.9-liter, twin-turbocharged V-8 engine at the heart of the Ferrari 488 GTB is something that has aftermarket tuning companies like XXX Performance drooling. Its potential can be seen in each of the three tuning stages developed by the German company through the use of new intake, exhaust, and ECU software modifications. A full flap-control exhaust system with larger downpipes gives the turbocharged horse a more thunderous grunt.
The XXX Performance Stage 1 package pushes output up to 750 horsepower and 612 lb-ft. of torque. Stage 2, which is featured on the Essen show car, packs a very healthy 850 horsepower and 686 lb-ft. of torque. The top-dog in the lineup is the Stage 3 package, which sends power skyrocketing past 1,000 horsepower and 922 lb-ft. of torque. To showcase the new power modifications visually, the entire engine compartment can be decorated with an array of carbon fiber accessories.
The new XXX Performance Ferrari 488 GTB will be showcased at the 2015 Essen Motor Show from November 28th through December 6th.
