Celebrating the history of Zagato and Alfa Romeo.
To commemorate the 90-year partnership between Italian coachbuilder Zagato Atelier and Alfa Romeo, Zagato has introduced the TZ3 Corsa. Designed to be a racecar, the TZ3 Corsa also celebrates the 100 years of racing, honoring Scuderia Ferrari, Alfa Corse, Autodelta, and Scuderia Zagato.
The racing heritage of both companies is found throughout the Zagato TZ3 Corsa. A light weight of only 850 kg (1874 lbs.) was achieved through the use of a mono shell carbon fiber tubular chassis with a tubular frame, and a hand made aluminum body. The carbon fiber tubular chassis not only helps to shed weight, but gives the car added strength and stiffness to meet the demands of racing.
Powering the classic Zagato TZ3 Corsa racecar is a 4.2-liter V-8 engine with a fierce 420 horsepower and manual adjustable engine calibration. The front-mid mounted V-8 also sports a dry sump lubrication system, allowing for a lower mounting position and ensures engine lubrication under high lateral-g forces. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed sequential gearbox. The dash to 62 mph takes the TZ3 Corsa less than 3.5 seconds, while the top speed is over 186 mph.
In collaboration with Pirelli, the Zagato TZ3 Corsa wears special high performance PZero tires. The PZero tires measure 245/645 “18 – Slick 640 at the front and 285/645 “18 – Slick 650 at the rear, and are fitted to lightweight 18-inch wheels.
Inside, the Zagato TZ3 Corsa features a number of competition products from OMP. To further shed weight the TZ3 Corsa has been equipped with a set of carbon fiber WRC seats and racing seat belts, along with a carbon fiber steering wheel. For added safety, an aluminum fire extinguisher has also been fitted.
The Alfa Romeo Zagato TZ3 Corsa was unveiled at the XII Villa D’Este Concours d’Elegance. Collector Martin Kapp commissioned the TZ3 Cora for the Tribute to Zagato event, which celebrated 90 years of the Zagato Brand.
